Community Midwives

Our visiting community midwife helps with all aspects of pregnancy and labour. Antenatal Clinics are held on Wednesday mornings. Parents to be Groups" and a "Drop-in" antenatal and post-natal service at Sydenham Family Centre. Home deliveries and deliveries in the local community hospital's midwifery-led unit are also undertaken. Breast feeding workshops are held in conjunction with parenting groups. The midwife runs a 24 hour advice line and 'on-call' service, and can be contacted on 01278 444517.

 

Community Nurses

The community nurses attached to Redgate Medical Centre provide nursing care at home and in residential settings. The aim of the Community Nursing Service is to provide assessments, nursing care, support and health education for both patients and their carers. Nursing care is provided for patients with long and short term illnesses, patients with disabilities, terminal illness and those recently discharged from hospital.

The Community Nursing team can be contacted at the Hub by telephoning: 0300 323 0021.  The Hub is open between 8 am and 6 pm Monday to Friday.  Outside of these hours the team can be contacted by calling NHS 111.

 

First Contact Practitioner

FCP is a physiotherapist who is professionally qualified to  treat patients without a referral from a GP or healthcare professional. FCPs provides the first point of contact whereby those who visit a GP from a musculoskeletal (MSK) problem will  instead have an appointment with a FCP physiotherapist.
